I Am An Artisan Cheesemaker

Is it just me, or does this choke you up, too? I've met several of these eminent Oregon cheesemakers, and I'll be profiling some of them and their colleagues in the coming months. Stay tuned.

Thanks to Cheese Chick for making this video, and for Tami Parr for pointing me to it. You rock!

It completely chokes me up! Glad you said it first, so I don't feel like such a food geek. How can you not get a bit misty when people are so committed and in love with what they're doing? There's joy in it, and it's nice to be a part of, even from a distance (though I'm not that far - I have beautiful local hazelnut herb goat cheese in my fridge right now! Yay cheese!)

I love passionate people, especially when the result is so delicious!

I love Gianaclis, Vern, and Mia Caldwell of Pholia Farm Creamery in Southern Oregon. They are an awesome bunch of people, totally committed to producing show-quality, raw milk cheeses. Plus, they raise a wonderful herd of nigerian dwarf goats, and have (I believe) the only off-the-grid nigerian dwarf raw milk dairy in the nation!!
