Farmers' markets don't just happen. Starting one up, not to mention keeping it going, takes the support of an army of people, from city government and local businesses to the manager to the vendors to the community as a whole. And without that level of support a market can struggle or even fail. Canby's market has survived largely due to its hardworking market manager and a few dedicated vendors, but may not make it without a huge infusion of energy on the part of the community it serves. Read about it in this week's
Market Watch.
