First it was radishes and some really wild greens, then pea shoot pesto, snap peas and chard, and now there are carrots, head lettuces and the second crop of radishes. And before you know it we'll have peppers (paprika and Nardello's are lookin' good!) and tomatoes.
Nardello's-to-be.And pretty soon I'm going to have to start thinking of fall crops to replace the carrots and peas when they give out. All in the very manageable space of two (smallish raised beds) and a little parking strip. Though Dave doesn't know I've got plans for two more raised beds on our slope, poor guy.
Now I've got to start researching the best places to get a couple of fig trees to plant along the fence where the arbor vitae used to be. I'm leaning toward black mission or brown turkey, but any suggestions are welcome!

Brown turkey figs are yummy and the trees do well in this zone. Mine is now three years in the ground and is huge with figs-o-plenty! Farmington and Garden fever both recommended the variety. Happy planting!
The carrots are gorgeous! Mine keep splitting at the bottom like legs...?
Carrots are a squirrely lot, imho. The picture on my Parmex carrot seed package showed regular long ones, but they're actually little round ping-pong ball-sized carrots. Goofy!
Do lots of good research on a good fig for your area - I'm in Coquille, admittedly quite a different climate (USDA zone 8) and I have two 6 year old figs growing - a Desert King (puts out about 30+ lbs a year) and a Brown Turkey, which has never had enough summer heat to bear fruit. Having said that, this year it has nice 2" figs right now, and just may make it, unless we continue to have clouds and 60 degree days!
