Market Watch: Montavilla Farmers' Market

It was a day to pull out your sun hat and shades, and the Montavilla Farmer's Market was getting revved up for a big season ahead. With many farmers' crops still in their infancy, it's been a bit of a slow start, but more vendors are scheduled to come on board in the next couple of weeks. Read the full Market Watch report or head over there this weekend and see for yourself!

Although small, this market is just the spark the Montavilla neighborhood needed to jumpstart its up-and-coming Stark Street area. I live 4 blocks away from the market and am thrilled with the way it has come along since its inception last year. It (along with other establishments like Flying Pie, Bipartisan, Country Cat, Ya Hala, etc.) has helped bring a sense of community and cohesiveness back to an area in which I feel was lacking due to the evil shadow of 82nd street.
I come each week (usually with a friend) and spend money on at least 4 of the booths. Keep it up guys, great work!!

Nicely said, Josh. A market isn't just a place to shop, it's a place for the community to gather, a chance for neighbors to talk and laugh and feel good about the place they live.
